One of my favorite things in the world is designing something that truly celebrates people. I love working with colors, various textures and elements to create a unique and cohesive mood...  To be honest, I relish having a hand in everything.  I create the invitation suite with coordinating details and event branding.  It is important to me that everything flow together to create an aesthetic story that allows guests to celebrate with the couple, enjoying all of their fun quirks! I also do oodles of styling and love collaborating with local venders to bring about an absolutely smashing wedding, event or styled shoot.  And then there are my two favorite things... cake and floral... I actually had a baking business on the side for a while and continue to do cakes for weddings, showers and parties here and there. I often find myself doing my own floral for weddings and events.  And I just love to work with local bakeries and florists. There is nothing better than sitting down to a cake tasting, or walking into a flower shop and being stunned by the magnificent scent of peonies, dahlias and orchids.   Maybe my very favorite is the social element... I even love being a part of family interactions, doing my best to serve as a peace-maker and stress-reducer.  I pray for the families I work with, and have found that I have serious withdrawals after an event is over, deeply missing all of the quality time shared.

These things are the reasons I do what I do.... I cherish that this small little business enables me to be endlessly creative, and I love the relationships I build even more. While I have loads of photos that I have yet to post, here is a selective portfolio of some of my creative endeavors.

My Work

After dabbling quite heavily in all things creative for a large portion of my life, I founded Oh Be Joyful Creative in 2013 as a small business which focuses on (but as you will learn, is not limited to) wedding & event styling and coordination as well as wedding stationery design.  My work has required an eye for detail and aesthetics, as well as the ability to work well with clients, artists, and venders, collaborating and blending ideas to bring about an exemplary product.

I have been privileged to join with local Dallas creatives on countless weddings and events, having a hand in just about every part of the details.  I have operated as the lead stylist for multiple wedding photo shoots, as well as doubled as coordinator and stylist on multiple occasions for various wedding and event clients.  I typically thrive when it comes to intense bursts of stress in my work, and have been told by many that they have struggled to find others in their lives with the level of attention to detail that I have shown.  I put all that I am into my work and will not stop until the goal is not only completed, but completed well.

Raised by my grandmother and mom haggling at flea markets and traveling from Texas to Europe, one of my greatest guilty pleasures is sourcing rare and unique pieces to design a space around.  This has shown up in my creative process for as long as I can remember and it is absolutely reflected in my work and home. I have a keen eye for texture, balance and color, and enjoy working with clients to achieve whatever style and palette that they desire, tending towards seeking out unique elements that are off the beaten path.

An artist at heart, much of my wedding stationery features my own illustration.  I love combining hand-drawn elements with graphic design to bring about pieces that possess a glorious blend of personality and clean style.  I am proficient in Adobe Illustrator, and subscribe to the Adobe Creative Cloud.  I also have experience with implementing pre-made themes to design my website on WordPress.

I am self-taught in the areas of floral design and photography and have used both of these skills consistently in my work.  In regards to floral design, I have spent much time over the years working alongside greatly skilled florists in the Dallas area, collaborating, attending workshops, and gleaning from their vast knowledge in this intricate and life-giving art form.  In the field of photography, because of the nature of my wedding stationery and silk ribbon business, I am generally ready to shoot my own product photography to a caliber that compliments that of photos by professionals that may be found on my website and social media.  I have worked closely with many high-end photographers on styled shoots, flat lays, weddings, events and creative projects, and adore the process of coming together to achieve something fresh and beautiful.

In January of 2018, I added hand-dyed silk ribbon, table runners and photo styling products to my items for sale, a gorgeous accent for stationery, floral design, and countless other details for weddings, events & personal use.  I have really enjoyed experimenting and growing in my knowledge of using plant-based dyes to achieve wonderfully stunning colors.  Every piece is different, and there is something about that one-of-a-kind beauty that draws me towards this art form.

In a nutshell, Oh Be Joyful Creative has been the wonderful outpouring of the desire to create that my Heavenly Creator has put inside of my heart.  Anything I am able to do comes from what He has given me, and I desire that everything I do glorify Him and lift the eyes of those around me.
